Bone Broth

  • Bag of bones (beef or chicken)

    • buy bones that have a lot of marrow (e.g. joint bones)

  • Filtered water (enough to fill a crock pot)

  • 3 tbsps apple cider vinegar (helps extract more nutrients)

Daily Cup of Broth

  • 1/8 tsp turmeric powder

  • Pinch salt and pepper

  • 1 cup bone broth (heated)

  1. Put bones and apple cider vinegar in crock pot and fill it with filtered water

  2. Turn crock pot to high until water boils

  3. Once boiled turn to low and allow to simmer

    • 24 hours for chicken bones

    • 48 hours for beef bones

  4. Check every couple of hours and add water when needed

  5. When done store the broth in your fridge

    • A layer of fat will harden on the top of the broth.

    • Only remove fat when you are about to use the broth

Cooking slowly and at a low temperature is essential to extract as much nutrients from the bone as possible.

You can add vegetables to the crock pot if you would like to make soup.

You can heat a cup of broth a day on the stove, add a little salt, pepper and turmeric and then drink it (recipe above).
